Happy New Year! I took some slow shutter speed shots of the ocean from my recent trip to Florida. I was excited to use my new camera, so I thought I would break it in on location, toes in the sand, photographing the Atlantic Ocean… my favorite place! The first 3 are using a slow shutter speed with my new camera, and the last 2 are using the show shutter app on my iphone. I like the painterly effect it provides! What do you think?
A shot of a path at our local beach, which as always, is one of my favorite subjects. There are an infinite number of different and interesting shots to take at the beach!
A few shots of the beach at a beautiful resort in Puerto Rico where we recently spent a long weekend. I just can’t get enough of the look of this type of shot of the beach. What do you think?? 🙂
A few shots of our frozen beach. Instead of foam and the edge of the water, there is chunky ice. My fingers felt like they were getting frost bite while I was taking these shots! Even the dogs that normally roam the beach in the winter weren’t out because it’s so cold. Brrr!
We have had some extreme temperature changes this week, and with the warm temperatures this morning, we had crazy thick fog. I headed out early to get some shots of the fog around town. It was also really windy, causing waves at the beach that were pretty big for our normally flat sound. Back to freezing tonight and maybe more fog once it warms up again in a few days!
I’ve taken and posted pictures of this pier in Deerfield Beach, Florida before, but I just had to go back and take some more while we were there last week. It’s cold and snowy here, so I’m enjoying looking back at the warm sunshine. Happy 2014!
A few more beach abstracts… I guess I just can’t get enough of these. I love taking them and I love looking at them! What do you think??
I thought I would try my favorite subject, the beach, in a new light, or focus. I do like the soft feel of these but I also like how even though the focus is soft, the image still seems clear. What do you think?
I was inspired by some abstract photography recently so I decided to head out and take some of my own. Abstracts are some of my favorite images, especially of the shoreline.
Yesterday I had a photography job down near the beach. As I was leaving I saw the sun setting and rushed over to try an capture an image. The sun goes down so quickly once it’s near the horizon line and I knew I really did have to speed to try and get there. The sun was very low by the time I arrived; however, the low position of the sun wasn’t my main issue, the temperature was! My car thermometer said 19° but with the wind, it was much colder than that. As I stood on the beach, my face and ears were absolutely frozen! (I didn’t even turn my car off so I could quickly jump back into the warmth.) I could only bear a minute or so out there photographing. For me, once I’m shooting, I will usually just stick it out whatever the weather. Not yesterday, though! I did get a few pretty shots, but normally I would have stayed long after the sun went down. There was no way that was happening though, what a bite that wind had! We have been spoiled with this mild winter, I suppose – welcome to January in New England.
