Fall in our town
A few shots from the beautiful town where we live. It’s so pretty in the fall!

The fall is a popular time for kids and family portraits! Take a look at one of my favorite subjects…. I just love taking her picture. Here she wasn’t exactly cooperating but the light from the window makes a gorgeous shot and sometimes looking away from the camera makes a portrait interesting.
A few more shots from yesterday’s rainy morning that I thought would look good processed in black and white. I just love the way the water drops stand up on the edges of the petals. If you look closely it’s amazing what you can see.
I just love photographing families and children! It is so much fun making kids laugh, engage with each other and trying to capture their relationships. We had such a nice time taking these shots on this gorgeous but chilly fall day. The light and beautiful scenery of the fall makes it such a great time for family and kids photos. The beautiful colors and scenes of autumn in the northeast lend themselves to myriad photographic opportunities. I’m sure you’ve seen your share of fall foliage images posted throughout the digital world, and I have posted quite a few images of my own savoring this short but pretty time of year. Here are some abstracts, which you know by now if you read my blog, that I just adore. The feel and the color just appeal to me. I hope you enjoy them as well!
Today I just had to head out this absolutely spectacular fall day. We have had so many lately, what a treat this fall has been! Today was warm, sunny and the sky was a clear, dark blue. Fall will soon be past us, so I really enjoyed taking in all of the beautiful colors. The paths through the nature preserve where I hiked today were just so pretty. Hope you enjoyed your day!!
Last Friday I was able to get back on the football field to shoot our high school football team. Last year I was at every game to see my son play. This year, because of scheduling conflicts, I hadn’t been able to attend any games until last Friday. It was such a pleasure being on the field again, even though my son wasn’t playing. It did make me a tiny bit sad when a player ran onto the field wearing the number he wore last year, well maybe more nostalgic than sad. But it was great being on the sidelines, with the regulars there, along with the tension, action and screaming that is part of a football sideline. I enjoy hustling around trying to capture the plays and rooting when they do well. Our team had brand new jerseys to give them momentum for the big game. They didn’t fare too well in the end, but it was a good game!! And what would a football game be without the fabulous cheerleaders? And ours are fantastic. Go Wreckers!
There is something visually pleasing looking along a fence. Especially when the fence is bordering a pretty farm on a picturesque fall day. These images bring up many memories of growing up with my cousins and squeezing through or walking along these very fences, with cows or horses in the fields they separate. The animals aren’t around anymore but the fields and views are just as beautiful as they ever were.
Sometimes it’s hard for me to actually change my images into black and white, while other times I’ll picture a scene and know immediately that it will be perfect in black and white. Some of the images below fall into each of those categories, but I decided to do all of them in black and white for this post. I actually think the look of black and white works for the old feel of the barn and its surroundings. But at the same time, it was a beautiful fall day, so the color appeals to me as well. I guess I’m just indecisive, except in that I love taking pictures of this farm!
Autumn is such a wonderful time for outdoor portraits. These are from this past weekend and and have such beautiful colors all around. Plus the subject is pretty adorable too! 🙂
